Some of the instruction books were quite good but for some reason they did not work for me and I quickly became dissolutioned.I recently found some old recordings that I did when Dermot first started his Awash with Colour programmes and it prompted me to look him up on the internet to see if he had any books which might provide the kind of information and tuition that I had been searching for. I never expected to find a tuiton course of the type that he has set up on the net and the 15 minute trial was all that I needed to see that this is exactly what I have been looking for. I am really impressed with the site and although I have encountered a few gremlins mostly of my own making Iam really pleased that I have subscribed to the site. I note that there has been a little criticsm of the price in the forum but from what I have seen so far I think it is pretty good value for money. ie less than the cost of a couple of pints of beer a week and a lot healthier too.The only slight criticism I have at the moment is that even though it does say under News and Events that the tutorials can be paused and replayed, I have not yet discovered how to rewind and replay them. I think the tutorials would be greatly improved if a facility to rewind, replay, fast forward option could be introduced but if not I am not going to lose any sleep over it. All I can say is Thanks Dermot. To be honest I have spent most of my time looking at the instructional parts to try and help me, which I have found fascinating. This morning I downloaded the instructions for Betty Fairclough's Cottage in Annagassan and watched your painting of it. I am going to have a go to see how I get on. Could you tell me how I know what time I have left on the web site, the first time I went to it it gave me the minuets left, but since then I have not seen anything coming up to show me, unless I am doing something wrong. Thank you Dermot for the inspiration you have give me to have a go at painting through watching your programs. I have brought untold DVDs books and videos that have cost me a absolute fortune, but none match up to Dermots' teaching on the web. Dermot truly explains things extremely clearly and answers the questions on how to do watercolor painting and sketching that I really need to know. I am no novice to painting but I haven't painted for a considerable time. Although I can draw, I have always lacked the sketching knowhow and courage to paint outdoors. I now feel very excited about starting painting again and tackling outdoor subjects, due to the very practical and extremely clear instructions Dermot provides. Fantastic resource and web can't wait to get start again. It's like having Dermot in your own front room FRANTASTIC!

Brushes

I wonder if anyone can help?I am new to watercolour painting and have just regsitered onto the site and looking forward to painting. Apart from that, the trial that I ended up with was of 22+ minutes duration, such that it was impossible to see the end result, particularly as there was no scroll bar to move the video content onwards. There was a complete waste of my time, whether being given free or not, in showing the replenishment of watercolour pans when I do not wish to even use watercolour paint, preferring acrylics which cannot just be left to harden as with watercolours, although this was not evident from the video that I watched ie watercolour wasn't specifically mentioned just the word "paint".Being so bitterly disapointed by the Free Trial - can one feel ripped off by something given free - I won't be subscribing to the site and am not sure that I wish to watch the free tv programmes. I should say that I often watch downloaded content but don't end up wasting time with as much buffering as was the case for this particular video.Joanne

Painting Holidays

Hi allI’ve just come back from the final painting holiday of this year to Istria in Croatia. Talk about saving the best to last; it was fantastic, the weather, the food, the painting locations and the people. To be honest it’s always good, but maybe because we have had such a terrible time with the weather at home this year it was such a treat to be able to sit out of doors and paint the days away in such an idyllic place. Now I am starting to plan next years Istrian painting holidays. As well as my usual 11 night holidays I am going to introduce some shorter 4 night packages into the schedule. These packages will include return flights, half board accommodation in an excellent hotel, 3 days painting and an excursion. The cost will be from £499.I will be uploading more info on all my painting activities onto the web site shortly. This will include photos of this year’s holidays. I am going to be promoting the new 4 day Istrian breaks at the Art Materials Live Exhibition at the NEC Birmingham in November where I will be demonstrating on the Winsor and Newton stand, hope to see you there.Chat again soon Dermot.

Viewing problems

I have trouble viewing the tutorials using Firefox browser. Coincidentally the surgeon’s father is an amateur painter and a subscriber to Awash On The Web. I would like to take this opportunity to touch base and say a heartfelt thanks to all those who have taken the time to visit the site so far.The site has been up and running from November. It was nearly two years in the making and took many long days and sometimes nights. In the first few months we had a few minor teething problems but I am pleased to say the technical team have solved most of them and are currently dealing with a few remaining software issues. My vision was to create a website that would be a clear and practical guide to painting, be easily navigated and would utilise broadband to its full potential thus offering the user the ultimate learn to paint experience. I will soon be adding new painting workshops and tutorials. This new content is currently in production. With your continued support and interaction together we can build Awash on the Web into the most complete and practical How-To-Paint web portal available anywhere. So please help me spread the word by telling your friends and e-mailing the link to the site. Please let me have your comments and your points of view through the forum. I would love to see your completed paintings of the current on-line workshops, you could photograph them and e-mail them to me at: dermot@awashontheweb.com I would love to here your experiences of the tutorials. I look forward to creating many more hours of additional, instructional content for the sites. Let’s have your suggestions for painting locations from the original ‘Awash With Colour’ episodes to be featured in my forthcoming exercises.Chat to you again soonBest wishes and happy paintingDermot Cavanagh

PDF sketches

Hi Dermot,I am new to your site, and I must say you are fabulous.
